How to Play Poker

Poker

Usually, there are five players in a poker game. Each player gets a hand of five cards. The aim is to make the best possible hand of cards at that moment in the hand. This can be achieved by hitting the required cards on the turn and river.

Before the hand begins, the players agree on the stakes. These will vary depending on the stakes of the game. Then, the cards are dealt out, one at a time. After the cards are dealt, the player on the left is required to make a small blind.

The dealer cuts the deck of cards. He passes the deck to the player on the right. The player on the left is then required to leave at least five cards. The deck is then dealt face up.

If a tie occurs, the high card breaks the tie. If a tie does not break, the highest unmatched card is awarded. If more than one pair is tied, the second pair wins.

During the betting phase, each player can either call or fold. When all but one player folds, the betting phase ends. The player who wins the hand collects the pot.

The final round of betting consists of a Showdown. The player who has the best hand wins the pot. The winner is also awarded the remaining bets. During the Showdown, all players reveal their hands.

The player who is all-in has to win the pot, only to the extent that he contributed to it. However, he is not allowed to add any more hero calls.
